Diagnostic accuracy of handheld ECG device

An evaluation of the diagnostic accuracy of the Coala Heart Monitor (CHM) when used for detection of atrial tachyarrhythmia (ATA) and atrial fibrillation (AF) has been published.

The CHM integrates the Cardiolund ECG Parser for automated ECG interval measurements, beat classification, and rhythm analysis.

The performance of the automated analysis is compared to manual annotations and to manual annotations of standard 12-lead ECGs recorded immediately before the CHM recording. The results show that automatic analysis for ATA showed a sensitivity of 93.5% and a specificity of 92.6%. Automatic analysis for AF showed a sensitivity of 97.4% and a specificity of 86.1%.
